🚫 No More Firehose Loaders in ROMs?

Xiaomi has quietly stopped including firehose loaders with their official ROMs — yes, even for devices with locked bootloaders. If you’ve been using the old trick of extracting the loader from the MIUI ROM to use with EDL, you’re out of luck for newer models.

A few real-life examples of the new chipsets affected:

• Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 (confirmed thanks to @Renate on XDA)
• Snapdragon 7s Gen 3
• Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 / 8+ Gen 1
• Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 / 8 Gen 3
• Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 / 8 Elite

These devices not only lack public firehose loaders, but Xiaomi has also implemented a new check: “blob should init. first”, effectively shutting down most known EDL exploits.

🔒 So, What Does That Mean?

In simpler terms, these newer devices are a lot harder — if not currently impossible — to revive using traditional EDL methods. If you hard-brick one of these phones, you're likely stuck unless you have access to Xiaomi’s internal service tools or authorized accounts.

This isn’t just a theoretical issue. I recently helped a friend who accidentally hard-bricked his Redmi K60 Pro (SD 8 Gen 2) during a failed root attempt. Normally, EDL would have saved the day. But this time? Nothing worked. No firehose loader. No EDL access. He ended up sending the phone to a service center — and paid more than he should have.

Thankfully, not everything is locked up tight. Many older devices — and some still popular today — have confirmed working firehose loaders. Here’s a quick rundown:

These are solid mid-range and flagship devices still being used by many, and they remain relatively easy to unbrick if needed

✅ Loader Pack 2 – Mostly Work, Still Useful:

• Mi A2, Redmi 9T
• Lower-end Snapdragons: 450, 632, 439, 429
• Older flagships: SD 835, 660, 630

However, not all is perfect here:
